During my MPH program, I spent my 3 month summer internship in India, working for Tata Memorial’s Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research, and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) as an Epidemiological Surveillance Trainee (a cancer researcher). It was the most unique experience I ever had in my career — an absolutely life changing opportunity and the only internship that existed within my program because I created it myself.
This miniseries will guide you through how I secured this global health internship during my MPH program. The posts will cover how I used resources within and outside of my program to get an internship that fulfilled my professional goals and personal dreams. Most of this process required hard work, determination, and follow through, and some of it required sheer luck.
